About The Position

R.R. Floody Company, an Applied Industrial Technologies company, is a hi-tech automation distributor specializing in machine vision and automation solutions training. They deliver products, innovative assemblies, and complete engineered solutions to OEMs, machine builders, integrators, and end users. The company is seeking an Application Sales Engineer, also referred to as an Account Manager, to join their team in Rockford, IL. This role is crucial for territory growth and increasing earnings by securing new business and cultivating repeat relationships with existing accounts. The Account Manager will adopt a consultative approach, engaging with various stakeholders such as engineers, maintenance personnel, and purchasing departments, to thoroughly understand and address their specific needs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience and success in developing new business, building repeat business, and managing a sales territory.
  • Demonstrated outside industrial sales experience with a preference in pneumatics, machine vision and/or robotics.
  • Familiarity within any areas including but not limited to, Process Engineering, Diagnostic Instruments, Robotics, AI & Machine Vision Systems, PLC and HMI, pneumatics and or controls.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude, strong desire to succeed.
  • Strong prioritization, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Computer skills and knowledge, including Excel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s in engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sales and service activities, develop strong customer relationships, identify product applications, and introduce new products and services.
  • Achieve sales and profit goals by developing and retaining existing customers and by opening new business.
  • Prepare quotations and proposals, follow up, negotiate terms, and close transactions.
  • Organize training sessions for customers.
  • Survey market and competitive conditions.
  • Complete reports regarding itineraries, expenses, sales calls, leads, and other related matters.
