About The Position

The Personal Lines Account Manager II provides critical support to clients, manages a book of insurance business of $225,000+ in revenue by acting with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making. The Account Manager II facilitates positive and effective relationships with sales and/or account team colleagues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 3-5 years in an insurance Account Management role (brokerage experience required) or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Currently licensed in good standing in required lines and states.
  • Ability to manage a book size of $225,000+ in revenue.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.
  • Ability to respond to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, and handle difficult or emotional customer situations promptly and accurately.
  • Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships; work effectively with insurance and service vendors to gain cooperation in meeting clients’ needs.
  • Ability to effectively work with a team and coach others in developing their skills and abilities.
  • Ability to efficiently gather pertinent information and facts, analyze and solve problems timely and thoroughly.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy.
  • Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and agency management systems.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the HUB’s primary contact to the client, providing professional and courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, resulting in a rate of account retention that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of all transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts.
  • Acquire understanding of clients’ business and insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans to determine suitability.
  • Act as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and experience-based judgment to resolve.
  • Negotiate with underwriters and carriers.
  • Troubleshoot claims and billing issues.
  • Responsible for overall retention of accounts in assigned book of business.
  • Develop new business from existing accounts and assigned leads and contribute to meeting departmental production goals.
  • Identify and follow-up on cross-selling opportunities when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and organized account files by appropriately documenting conversations with clients and carrier representatives; update all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems; ensure the accuracy of data.
  • Prepare annual review reports and conduct client meetings to review the insurance program and make appropriate recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare reports for management as required.
  • Oversee functions performed by less experienced Account Managers and Client Support Specialists as required.
  • Support, mentor, and train less experienced Account Managers and Client Support Specialists, as necessary.
  • Seek continued knowledge and stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions that may impact their clients.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to clients in response to those changes.
  • Attend industry-related continuing education training and courses.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
