About The Position

The Commercial Grounds Management Account Manager is a pivotal leadership and relationship-driven role focused on delivering exceptional landscape maintenance services and managing comprehensive client relations across our portfolio. Acting as the primary bridge between our clients and production teams, you will champion a culture of teamwork, set clear expectations, and drive the standard for regional landscape excellence. Your success will be measured by three primary pillars: customer retention, landscape enhancement sales, and new commercial grounds maintenance business development.

Requirements

  • Valid NC Driver’s License and consistently maintain a clean, insurable driving record.
  • Ability to actively acquire and maintain an NC Pesticide Applicator's license.
  • Completion of all internal operations and foreman training modules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly convey expectations, build rapport with clients, and motivate production teams.
  • Knowledgeable in all horticultural practices associated with commercial grounds maintenance, with the ability to educate customers and translate those practices to production.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and remain on your feet on a continual basis throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, navigating seasonal heat, humidity, cold, or rain.
  • Ability to safely work around common outdoor variables and risks, including bees, wasps, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and rough terrain.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to acquire the Pesticide Applicators License.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main field contact for commercial clients, contractors, and subcontractors, fostering long-term relationships built on trust and proactive communication.
  • Actively manage and execute customer retention strategies to maintain high satisfaction and renewal rates across assigned sites.
  • Identify on-site opportunities for landscape improvements, managing the enhancement process from site assessment and estimation to proposal assembly and final sale to meet monthly revenue targets.
  • Translate client expectations into clear, actionable production goals for field crews, ensuring jobs are executed efficiently, safely, and exactly to specification.
  • Partner with fellow Account Managers to ensure a consistent, high-quality product across the regional portfolio.
  • Support emergency and seasonal operations as needed, including winter weather response and storm cleanup.
  • Maintain full compliance with all of Bland’s company policies, standard operating procedures, and professional protocols.
  • Strictly practice and enforce safety protocols regarding chemicals, tools, and all landscape equipment.
  • Represent the company professionally by consistently wearing company-provided uniforms and using required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
