About The Position

The Account Executive will be responsible for driving new business within the utility and public-sector markets through a consultative sales approach. This individual will identify prospective customers, develop relationships with key decision-makers, understand their business and technical needs, and work closely with internal operations teams to translate those needs into feasible, installable solutions. The position will interact directly with customer and company leadership, engineers, project managers, contract specialists, and other technical stakeholders. The Account Executive will also contribute to the development of financial solutions and help identify strategic market opportunities that support the team's long-term growth objectives. This is a highly visible sales role for a proven business development professional who understands complex solution selling and can manage the sales process from initial prospecting through proposal, negotiation, and close.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of industry experience selling complex or large-scale solutions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success in consultative sales, business development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Strong understanding of customer discovery and solution-based selling.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with executives, technical professionals, project managers, and other customer stakeholders.
  • Strong proposal-writing and business-documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
  • Ability to compose proposals, reports, business correspondence, and other professional documentation.
  • Ability to present effectively to groups of managers, clients, customers, and members of the public.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30%-50%, including overnight travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling into utilities, public-sector organizations, energy, infrastructure, or renewable energy markets is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new business through trade shows, industry publications, online research, professional organizations, cold calling, and other business development channels.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the renewable energy industry, including market structure, opportunities, trends, and emerging issues.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with utility and public-sector clients and key decision-makers.
  • Utilize a consultative selling approach to understand customer needs, concerns, and strategic objectives.
  • Partner with operations and technical teams to develop practical, installable solutions aligned with customer requirements.
  • Prepare and present professional proposals addressing technical, operational, and financial requirements.
  • Develop financial solutions and commercial proposals that support customer objectives while achieving appropriate gross margins.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the installation process to address additional needs and concerns.
  • Monitor account plans, market conditions, customer requirements, and competitive activity.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customer leadership, engineers, project managers, contract specialists, and other technical representatives.
  • Meet established sales activity and performance objectives, including prospecting activity, first calls, letters of authorization or intent, sales volume, and gross-margin goals.
  • Support market-segment leadership in identifying strategic opportunities and developing long-term sales plans.
