Account Executive - Western Canada

WeKnowTrainingCalgary, AB
Onsite

About The Position

As an Account Executive at We Know Training (WKT), you will be responsible for driving net-new business growth across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Your primary focus will be selling WKT's training platform and content to Training Managers and L&D leaders. WKT operates across eight specialized brands in regulated industries, including occupational safety, transportation, and financial services licensing. This is a 'hunting' role where you will own your territory, build your pipeline, and close deals. The role is anchored in safety, transportation, and industrial training, with a specific need for candidates experienced in safety-sensitive sectors like oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, or transportation, and who possess an established network within these industries.

Requirements

  • Experience selling into, or working within, safety-sensitive sectors such as oil and gas, construction, mining, manufacturing, or transportation.
  • An established network of contacts in safety-sensitive sectors for warm outreach and strategic entry points.
  • The ability to speak credibly to OH&S legislation and industry standards.
  • Comfort with the language safety leaders use: due diligence, competency, regulatory compliance, and hazard control.
  • Proven success in a consultative, outbound B2B sales or account management role, with a history of meeting or exceeding targets and managing high-value deals focused on long-term value.
  • Strong communication skills, including confidence in presenting to senior decision-makers, safety managers, HSE leads, and training coordinators.
  • Tech fluency, including comfort with CRM systems (FreshSales is a bonus), AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT, LinkedIn, and AI-powered sales engagement platforms.
  • Meticulous pipeline hygiene, activity tracking, and deal documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with areas like transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS, ground disturbance, equipment operation, fall protection, and driver safety.

Responsibilities

  • Own Western Canada by building and working a named target account list of large employers in regulated industries across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, prioritizing accounts by potential.
  • Hunt net-new business by running structured discovery to understand client pain points, demonstrating the platform, and closing deals.
  • Lead consultative demos, both virtually and in person, to build trust and long-term value without using pressure tactics.
  • Grow strategic accounts by owning expansion and new-scope conversations within major accounts, as standard renewals are handled by the Delivery team.
  • Work as part of a national team, partnering with the Eastern Canada Account Executive on a shared playbook and workflows.
  • Run a disciplined pipeline by maintaining accurate, up-to-date records in the CRM (FreshSales), tracking every lead, touchpoint, and deal stage.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary + quarterly team bonus
  • Comprehensive benefits (Health, dental, and more)
  • Corporate RRSP program
  • Professional development opportunities
