About The Position

Fundamental is seeking a world-class commercial leader to build and scale our global Energy (Oil & Gas) business. This is a critical leadership role responsible for establishing our tabular AI foundation model as the system of intelligence for the world’s leading energy companies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of enterprise software, data, or AI sales experience, with at least 4 years selling into oil and gas operators.
  • A documented track record of closing seven-figure deals into upstream or downstream buyers.
  • Existing relationships with at least 5 of the major operators (Chevron, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Occidental, Pioneer, Devon, EOG, Hess, Equinor, Shell, BP, TotalEnergies, Aramco, ADNOC, Petrobras, Aker BP, or comparable).
  • Fluency in the technical and commercial language of the industry - production optimization, reservoir characterization, drilling efficiency, refining yield, trading and risk.
  • Comfort co-selling with technical resources and a high-trust working relationship with engineering colleagues.
  • Houston-based or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a named-account list of 10–15 oil and gas operators in North America (supermajors, large independents, NOCs, midstream operators).
  • Handle full-cycle ownership from first meeting through contract close, expansion, and renewal, typically involving 6–12 month enterprise sales cycles.
  • Develop executive relationships at the COO, CTO, Chief Digital Officer, and VP levels.
  • Achieve production levels at every account on your list.
  • Generate pipeline through advisor introductions, board-connected investor warm paths, AWS co-sell motions, and direct outbound efforts.
  • Co-sell alongside forward-deployed AI engineers who scope and run technical evaluations in customer environments.
  • Manage deal architecture and pricing on contracts in the $500K–$5M+ range, including platform fees, accuracy royalty structures, and high-touch engagement tiers.
  • Maintain an operating cadence with the GM, including weekly account reviews, monthly forecast calls, and quarterly account-plan refreshes.
