Our innovative solutions (Loss Prevention, ShopperTrak, and Inventory Intelligence) enhance customer experiences and enable retailers to build seamless, streamlined shopping environments. The Account Executive role is responsible for winning net new business and expanding existing customer relationships across assigned retail accounts. The role combines complex solution selling, proactive prospecting, account management, and customer issue resolution to help deliver profitable growth, long-term retention, and repeat business. Growth targets are heavily focused on driving adoption of video analytics, CCTV, integrated loss prevention and EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) solutions, with video analytics with CCTV as the primary focus.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Marketing, or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of sales or sales management experience within the retail sector.
  • Minimum of 6 years of sales or sales management experience in the retail sector, with a strong preference for direct experience selling to retailers.
  • Demonstrated consistent record of achieving performance goals.
  • Experience with product and solution selling.
  • Experience selling to retailers or being a former retailer would be strongly considered
  • Experience selling loss prevention systems and/or products at the C-level.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, priorities, and stakeholder expectations in a complex sales environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% for customer meetings and industry conferences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling into the retail vertical, ideally with an established network of retail, loss prevention, and IT stakeholders and C-level decision-makers (IT, Store Operations, Loss Prevention).

Responsibilities

  • Create new market share by selling a broad range of loss prevention and EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) solutions alongside video technologies (including CCTV and advanced video analytics as the primary focus) to targeted opportunities and existing customers.
  • Proactively hunt and secure profitable new business through direct outreach and leveraging relationships with multiple-level contacts within large retail customer organizations.
  • Manage assigned accounts across opportunity identification, pre-sales planning, deal execution, post-sales installation planning, and follow-up.
  • Support post-sales satisfaction by resolving customer issues related to invoicing, service, and other account matters.
  • Maintain strong relationships across your account portfolio to support retention, expansion, and long-term customer value.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, and manufacturing teams to define product specifications and support successful implementation.
  • Present solutions and value propositions to customers and close sales on terms that are mutually satisfactory to the customer and Johnson Controls.
  • Develop annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly plans aligned to business growth opportunities and company objectives.
  • Share market and product intelligence with regional sales colleagues to help identify additional growth opportunities.
  • Travel occasionally (less than 25%) to attend key industry conferences, customer meetings, and site visits as needed.
  • Own results by balancing approximately 70% net new business prospecting ("hunting") with 30% wallet-share expansion across your current book of business (open to discussion based on account territory).
  • Apply a strong understanding of every stage of the sales cycle, from prospecting and qualification through negotiation and close.
  • Build trust with customers and internal partners by acting with accountability, integrity, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Stay close to the work, remove barriers for customers, and act quickly on issues that could affect service, invoicing, or delivery.
  • Use continuous improvement, candid communication, and practical problem-solving to strengthen account performance over time.
  • Work as one team with clients, engineers, manufacturing teams, and regional sales colleagues to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Embrace new tools, methods, and ideas that improve sales execution, planning, and customer engagement.
  • Build and maintain the relationships needed to protect retention, grow share of wallet, and create repeat business.
