About The Position

Burson, part of WPP, is the global communications leader built to create value for clients through reputation. Our Corporate Affairs Practice is seeking to hire an Account Executive to support clients with issues, corporate reputation, public affairs, and external & internal communications support. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills and will be able to manage multiple projects at one time. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-stakes and complex communication issues for exciting clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of public relations/communications experience in an agency, in-house, ideally with a specific focus on reputation and issues management, or in a political environment.
  • The aptitude to handle high priority and high-pressure situations with poise.
  • An understanding of the current media landscape including national mainstream news media outlets, specialized industry publications, and digital and social media.
  • Proficiency in office computer programs to include MS Office Suite.
  • Strong research, proofreading, writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools such as MuckRack, NewsWhip and BrandWatch.
  • Professional interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work on a team and handle multiple projects in a simultaneous and collaborative manner.

Responsibilities

  • Writing media relations materials to include pitch letters, news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets & bios.
  • Developing pitches and working with targeted media on story development.
  • Program execution and daily client service.
  • Assisting in the research and preparation for new business pitches and campaigns.
  • Handling media relations activities that might include list building and maintenance, daily media monitoring, and scanning media to identify opportunities for clients.
  • Researching and monitoring client’s business and industry to maintain knowledge base.
  • Regularly updating the media outlets and target-reporter databases.
  • Write and distribute pitch letters, news releases, fact sheets, bios, newsletters, prepared remarks and standby statements.
  • Develop relationships with external audiences: media, third party constituencies, vendors.
  • Prepare monthly activity reports, maintaining calendars and travel itineraries.
