This is a critical customer service position serving the public in person and over the phone in a highly professional manner, requiring effective multi-tasking in a busy office environment. The role primarily works with Tax Claim staff, assisting the public with daily support functions under the direction of the Assistant/Deputy Director of Tax Claim and the Assistant Deputy Treasurer. This frontline position is directly responsible for working with taxpayers in person and over the phone regarding current and delinquent real estate tax collection matters. The position requires confidence in handling various payments, including large cash transactions, and comfort with giving change. Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential for understanding and explaining reports, receipts, and statements. The County Revenue and Collections Service Specialist acts as the main line of communication with taxpayers, providing guidance on tax-related matters, explaining the tax collection process, and discussing subsequent options once accounts are placed with the Tax Claim Bureau. This role also involves updating taxpayer parcel information with the Assessment department, acting as an intermediary to refer taxpayers to applicable support networks, assisting PennDot with mobile home tracking and titling, and performing individual audits to ensure account accuracy. The team member will also provide direct support during tax sale preparation and assist constituents in bringing delinquent accounts current.
