About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a skilled accompanist/organist to support the Heritage Youth Chorus in rehearsals, performances, and tour experiences. This position is considered a faith-forming role where accompanists are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to academic responsibilities, employees at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate, serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission. Candidates should be professional in demeanor and collaborative in approach. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Requirements

  • Strong piano and/or organ skills
  • Excellent sight-reading ability
  • Prior experience accompanying choirs or vocal ensembles

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays from 3:35–5:05 pm
  • Accompany full ensemble rehearsals and assist with sectional rehearsals as needed
  • Collaborate with the director to support musical preparation and ensemble growth
  • Perform for 3–4 concerts throughout the year
  • Accompany the choir on its annual summer performance tour (typically 1-2 weeks)
