About The Position

The Accommodations Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating and implementing interpreting, note-taking, alternative text and document remediation, captioning, and testing services under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Disability Support and Assistive Technology (Assistant Director). The Coordinator is responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling for interpreting services, captioning, and note-taking services. The Coordinator works closely and collaboratively with the Accommodations Coordinators to implement testing accommodations. The Coordinator provides assistive technology support, as needed. This position manages the logistics of implementing accommodations, collaborates with ASAC staff and campus partners to determine procedures and policies, and communicates the same to the students and faculty who use them. Under direction of the Assistant Director, oversees the student supervision and payment process for interpreting, captioning and note-taking services and tracks expenditures. This position collects data and reports on accommodation statistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with some professional experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to problem-solve and multi-task under pressure.
  • Ability to use and learn software programs used in tracking data and managing student information.
  • Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or interest in assistive technology preferred.
  • Experience in a post-secondary setting and familiarity with individuals with disabilities strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating interpreting, note-taking, alternative text, and captioning services.
  • Collaborating with Accommodations Coordinator and Assistant Director to oversee and support accommodated testing functions.
  • Overseeing and supporting major accommodated testing events at the end of Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Determining and communicating policies and procedures in conjunction with the Assistant Director.
  • Overseeing the payment process for interpreting, captioning and note-taking services and tracking expenditures.
  • Collecting data and reporting monthly and annually on accommodations statistics.
  • Fully cross-training with the Accommodations Coordinators and Senior Administrative Assistant and filling in for the position as-needed.
  • Supporting the work of the Assistant Director, as needed.
  • Supporting front-desk operations as-needed, especially during summer months.
  • Communicating procedures and policies as needed to students and faculty.
  • Serving as point of contact for students and professors regarding the implementation of interpreting and testing accommodations.
  • Communicating with faculty regarding interpreting and testing needs and the implementation of disability-related accommodations.
  • Problem-solving issues with respect to managing accommodations.
  • Working with campus partners to ensure access to all university programs and services.
  • Hiring, training, scheduling and supervising interpreters and note-takers.
  • Ensuring notes are uploaded in a timely manner on Canvas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
