About The Position

Segers Aero Corporation is hiring an Accessory Shop Mechanic to join their team in Fairhope, AL. This role involves performing maintenance on customer aircraft and engine accessories in accordance with company policies, SOPs, and the Repair Station Manual. The company offers a competitive benefits package and a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Must provide and maintain toolbox in accordance with Segers’ Tool Control Plan.
  • Must be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with and among co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and take initiative.
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
  • Must be able to apply common sense.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must be proficient in company-specific software.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates, and interpret graphs.
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE.
  • Must have knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment (dimensional and electrical).
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally.
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
  • Must regularly be able to squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and stand.
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.
  • Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be able to hear running machinery.
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
  • Must have exceptional hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions.
  • At least 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 year of professional mechanical aviation experience or completion of Aviation School is required.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and DOT-FAA pre-employment drug screen.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT FAA’s regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience performing maintenance on components in an MRO environment is preferred.
  • A&P license or FAA Power Plant Rating preferred.
  • Must strive to continuously develop skills and pursue training opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire information from production boards, reports, and supervisor/lead for daily/weekly production goals.
  • Locate the accessory work order from the assigned production rack.
  • Properly log into ETS using the correct operation code.
  • Review the work scope as directed by Sales upon induction.
  • Locate the correct manual and tooling equipment to complete evaluation.
  • Review and interpret the overhaul manual (OHM) to accurately diagnose defects or adhere to engine work scope/customer SOP.
  • Perform preliminary inspection for incoming damages, numerical errors, and missing/incorrect parts; inform lead of discrepancies.
  • Bench test unit as applicable to confirm report from Sales/Customer.
  • Properly disassemble the unit according to the overhaul manual, using correct tooling and following standard aviation procedures.
  • Visually inspect piece parts for defects listed by the overhaul manual or aviation standard practice.
  • Measure items using micrometers, calipers, or other approved measuring equipment.
  • Assign correct routing for rework items by completing the required IW per company standards.
  • Accurately log inspection report into company-specific software and complete unit evaluation.
  • Complete final calibrations/testing required per the overhaul manual with the Accessory Shop Quality Inspector.
  • Ensure all piece parts, tags, and paperwork are properly identified and completed for Final Inspection.
  • Properly preserve the unit in accordance with the overhaul manual or standard aviation practices.
  • Ensure units are properly mounted on shipping boards if required.
  • Ensure caps, plugs, covers, and tags are properly installed before shipping.
  • Maintain a clean workstation free from Foreign Object and/or Debris (FOD) and ensure tooling is properly stored.
  • Maintain a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstructions.
  • Travel as required.
  • Confer with lead/supervisor to recommend changes for equipment utilization, production methods, and procedures to increase efficiency and promote improvement.
  • Attend all safety and health training as required.
  • Work when scheduled and comply with company attendance policy.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Observe and practice all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g., Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields).
