About The Position

The Accessibility Services Coordinator/Counselor provides counseling, career, and student support services and coordinates Accessibility Services for students with disabilities. The position provides personal counseling, crisis intervention, career support, case management and referrals, educational programming and outreach, and assistance with departmental student support services and resources. The Accessibility Services Coordinator/Counselor reports to the Dean of Counseling, Careers, and Behavioral Services and works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and appropriate community partners to support the delivery of departmental services and promote student access, well-being, and success.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Eligibility for professional counseling licensure in North Carolina required
Professional counseling experience or related experience in an educational, clinical, community, or comparable setting.

Experience in a higher education setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Accessibility Services Coordinator/Counselor within Counseling & Career Services.
Provide personal counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and referrals to appropriate College and community resources.
Coordinate Accessibility Services and facilitate the accommodation process for students with disabilities.
Review disability documentation and determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable requirements.
Meet with students to identify appropriate accommodations and support needs.
Develop accommodation plans and communicate approved accommodations to appropriate faculty and staff.
Maintain accurate and confidential Accessibility Services records and documentation.
Provide guidance to students, faculty, and staff regarding approved accommodations, accessibility procedures, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable requirements.
Coordinate interpreting services, assistive technology, and other accessibility resources as needed.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the effective implementation of approved accommodations.
Provide career counseling and support, including assistance with career exploration, employment preparation, and Career Services resources.
Assist students with accessing College and community resources to address academic, personal, financial, basic-needs, and other barriers to student success.
Support departmental student assistance programs and resources, including the food pantry.
Provide guidance to students regarding assigned Student Conduct sanctions, requirements, and next steps, as appropriate.
Develop and provide educational programming, workshops, outreach, and other student engagement activities related to assigned areas of responsibility.
Participate in departmental and College activities, committees, initiatives, and special projects as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in the College and departmental planning processes.
Identify trends, emerging needs, and service gaps related to counseling, career, accessibility, and student support services.
Recommend programs, services, resources, and outreach opportunities to address identified student needs and improve service delivery.
Assist with planning educational programs, workshops, and student support initiatives within assigned areas of responsibility.
Assist with the development, review, and implementation of procedures related to Counseling, Career, Accessibility, and student support services.
Develop and maintain procedures for the effective delivery of Accessibility Services and approved accommodations.
Organize and maintain Accessibility Services records, forms, resources, and related materials.
Assist with maintaining accurate and current departmental information for college publications, webpages, and other communication resources.
Organize resources and materials necessary to support departmental programs, services, and student activities.
Coordinate and provide guidance to student workers assigned to the department.
Coordinate Accessibility Services activities, accommodations, resources, and related student needs.
Coordinate with faculty, staff, and appropriate College departments to support the implementation of approved accommodations and accessibility needs.
Collaborate with departmental staff to support the continuity and delivery of counseling, career, and student support services.
Coordinate with community agencies and external partners, as appropriate, to connect students with needed services and resources.
Maintain compliance with applicable College, North Carolina Community College System, state, and federal requirements related to assigned areas of responsibility.
Maintain appropriate standards for confidentiality, documentation, recordkeeping, and service delivery.
Monitor Accessibility Services processes and records to support timely and consistent delivery of approved accommodations.
Identify concerns related to service delivery, student needs, or compliance and communicate them to the Dean as appropriate.
Maintain positive and professional working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners.
Serve as a departmental liaison with community agencies, educational partners, and other organizations to support student needs and access to services.
Participate in outreach activities that promote awareness of Counseling, Career, Accessibility, and student support services.
Represent the department and College at appropriate campus and community events, meetings, and activities.
Performing other duties as assigned by the President of Robeson Community College.
