About The Position

UC Health is hiring a part-time Access Representative for the Admitting & Registration department for the first shift at UC Medical Center. The Access Representative will support the Medical Centers and deliver high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures. Hospital registration involves arriving patients into the Emergency Department (ED) and Trauma Bay. This process includes accurately verifying each patient's identity, gathering demographic and contact information, setting up accident claims, obtaining signatures on hospital documents and including consent forms and financial responsibility, collecting copays, scanning patient documents, completing registration work queues, and verifying insurance details. Completes required MSP and Advance Directives questionnaires for all appropriate patients. It is essential to prioritize all insurance coverages as primary, secondary, and tertiary, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and efficient patient flow. The quality of registration data collected has a significant impact on the organization's revenue and reimbursement timelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of experience in registration, billing, customer service, or a managed care organization preferred
  • Analytical skills: able to solve problems.

  • Excellent communication skills, accountable/receptive to feedback, demonstrate effective time management, and can deal with customers who are often adversarial.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital registration involves arriving patients into the Emergency Department (ED) and Trauma Bay.
  • Accurately verifying each patient's identity, gathering demographic and contact information, setting up accident claims, obtaining signatures on hospital documents and including consent forms and financial responsibility, collecting copays, scanning patient documents, completing registration work queues, and verifying insurance details.
  • Completes required MSP and Advance Directives questionnaires for all appropriate patients.
  • Prioritize all insurance coverages as primary, secondary, and tertiary, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and efficient patient flow.
  • Interactions with patients occur before, during, and after their care. This includes answering questions about the registration process and ensuring patients receive the support they need.
  • Complete registration errors from the work queue promptly while maintaining department productivity and quality standards.
  • Maintain the department's established productivity and performance standards.
  • Communication should be conducted through the Teams platform and Microsoft email.
  • Receives monthly Performance Audit.
  • Report improvements, problems, and changes related to registration to department management.
  • Other duties may also be assigned within the Admitting and Registration department.
