The Access Coordinator III, under general supervision, provides advanced professional expertise in advancing access to the academic and campus environment for an assigned caseload of students with disabilities. This role engages in the interactive process to assess barriers, determine reasonable accommodations, and ensure effective implementation in accordance with institutional policy and applicable federal and state regulations. The position collaborates across campus to develop, implement, and evaluate best practices that promote accessible design and systemic accessibility. Additionally, the Access Coordinator III serves as a consultant to faculty and staff, delivering training and guidance on accessibility standards and best practices. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Position is in-office and located at the Stephenville campus with work hours of Monday to Friday; 8AM -5PM or as work requirements indicate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, special education or related field
  • Minimum of three years or related experience
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, stoop and bend.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with faculty, staff and students to provide needed information and to promote Tarleton State University in a favorable manner.
  • Ability to be flexible and composed due to working an in environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and campus stakeholders in a variety of professional contexts.
  • Ability to adhere to Tarleton State University’s policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of and adhere to College programs, polies, procedures, and academic standards, code of professional conduct and ethics and applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including FERPA and HIPAA.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, special education or related field
  • Previous experience in serving students with disabilities in a post-secondary learning environment
  • Previous experience utilizing AIM for case management
  • Five years of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional expertise in advancing access to the academic and campus environment for a designated caseload of students with disabilities.
  • Manages an assigned caseload through ongoing case coordination, monitoring accommodation implementation, and supporting specialized services such as assistive technology, note-taking coordination, testing accommodations, and communication access.
  • Conducts individualized interactive meetings to identify barriers, evaluate disability documentation, determine reasonable accommodations, and facilitate appropriate referrals to campus and community resources.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to promote accessible design principles and implement best practices that enhance accessibility across academic, co-curricular, and campus life environments.
  • Develops and delivers educational programming and training for students, faculty, and staff to increase awareness of disability access, legal compliance, and the intersection of disability within campus environments.
  • Serves as a subject matter resource to faculty, departments, and university units regarding disability laws (ADA, Section 504), institutional policies, and inclusive practices, providing consultation on access barriers and student rights and responsibilities.
  • Coordinates and oversees designated departmental initiatives, programs, or operational processes that support the mission and strategic goals of the Office of Student Accessibility Services.
