About The Position

ChristianaCare is hiring a full time Access Coordinator II for their Surgical Oncology Department at the Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE. This position coordinates patient care across the practice, referring providers, hospital and specialty teams, and patients to ensure a timely and positive care experience. Responsibilities include obtaining and tracking referrals, verifying and documenting insurance coverage, and coordinating financial support as needed. The role also manages ongoing communication through Vocera and the Patient Portal and maintains effective coordination with patients, provider offices, and hospital staff. This position sits in the front desk at the practice and is patient facing. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm. ChristianaCare offers a collaborative, patient-centered environment where Access Coordinators play a vital role in ensuring timely, coordinated, and compassionate care.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience in a medical office practice setting is required

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years’ experience in a medical office practice setting is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care across the practice, referring providers, hospital and specialty teams, and patients to ensure a timely and positive care experience
  • Obtain and track referrals
  • Verify and document insurance coverage
  • Coordinate financial support as needed
  • Manage ongoing communication through Vocera and the Patient Portal
  • Maintain effective coordination with patients, provider offices, and hospital staff
  • Support coordinated patient care by working closely with referring physicians, hospital providers, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Manage new and urgent patient workflows
  • Coordinate referrals and authorizations
  • Schedule appointments and follow‑up care
  • Support patient communication through phone, patient portal, and Vocera
  • Perform front‑office administrative duties such as checking patients in and out
  • Answer phones
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EMR systems
  • Support daily operational and quality activities to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience
