About The Position

ChristianaCare's Hematology Oncology Department in Newark, DE is seeking a detail-oriented, adaptable, and highly organized Access Coordinator II. ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology is located within the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute at 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Suite 2300 in Newark, Delaware. ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology is a top provider of cancer and blood disorders, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and malignant/solid tumor cancers in various body parts. ChristianaCare Oncology Hematology provides comprehensive support, including educational programs, social services, and nutritional guidance to support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This position coordinates patient care across the practice, referring providers, hospital and specialty teams, and patients to ensure a timely and positive care experience. Responsibilities include obtaining and tracking referrals, verifying and documenting insurance coverage, coordinating financial support as needed. The role also manages ongoing communication through Vocera and the Patient Portal and maintains effective coordination with patients, provider offices, and hospital staff.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Three to five years of experience in a private medical office and/or outside facility required.
  • One year of surgical scheduling and/or patient access required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient care across the practice, referring providers, hospital and specialty teams, and patients to ensure a timely and positive care experience.
  • Obtains and tracks referrals.
  • Verifies and documents insurance coverage.
  • Coordinates financial support as needed.
  • Manages ongoing communication through Vocera and the Patient Portal.
  • Maintains effective coordination with patients, provider offices, and hospital staff.
  • Manages new and urgent patient workflows.
  • Coordinates referrals and authorizations.
  • Schedules appointments and follow-up care.
  • Supports patient communication through phone, patient portal, and Vocera.
  • Performs front-office administrative duties such as checking patients in and out, answering phones, maintaining accurate documentation in EMR systems.
  • Supports daily operational and quality activities to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.
