About The Position

The Service Technician installs, services, and maintains low-voltage security and network systems, including access control, cameras, cabling, and related hardware. This role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a service team. The company has over 13,000 hours of work scheduled for 2026, with projects in Charleston, Berkley, and Dorchester counties, as well as within school districts and a major project at the Charleston Airport. The airport work, involving installing door brakes, sensors, crash bars, and readers, is expected to last 3-6 months. Technicians may also perform service work after initial construction. Work hours are typically 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a 4x10 hour day schedule, occasionally including Fridays, and rarely on Saturdays or Sundays. If work is slow in Charleston, technicians will meet at the office in Summerville and drive to other site locations around the Lowcountry. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Summerville, SC.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience needed in access control.
  • Must have experience using hand and power tools, comfortable working on ladders and in lifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license; must be 21+ to operate company vehicles.
  • Solid access control experience.
  • Commercial experience.
  • Structured cabling (Cat5/Cat6, fiber, low voltage)
  • VMS installations (IP/analog cameras, head-end equipment)
  • Access control systems (Lenel, S2, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon)
  • Door hardware installation (electrified locks, readers, strikes, crash bars)
  • Familiarity with Allegion and ASSA ABLOY hardware

  • Install, service, and maintain: Access control devices and electrified door hardware
  • Install, service, and maintain: Surveillance cameras
  • Install, service, and maintain: Cable pathway systems and low-voltage cabling (component, category, fiber)
  • Install, service, and maintain: Wireless access points and other security/network devices
  • Maintain company tools and equipment.
  • Follow all safety standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with service team members and support additional duties as needed.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the security industry.
