Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Academy Traffic Safety Instructor (Public Safety Training Specialist 1) This recruitment is for one (1), limited duration, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies. Limited duration positions are benefit eligible positions with a designated maximum length of service. This position is expected to last through September 2026, with the anticipated renewal of October 2026; however, based on workload need and funding the position end cannot be anticipated or may become permanent depending on funding. What you will be doing: As the Academy Traffic Safety Instructor, you will be delivering pre-designed instructional coursework and activities related to Impaired Driving Enforcement training which include but are not limited to SFST classroom training, SFST legal training, DUII Report Writing (plus a lab), Intoxilyzer 8000 training, Drugs on Impaired Driving, DUII Scenarios, Radar/LIDAR and Wet Lab (alcohol workshop class). While maintaining the Traffic Safety program in adherence to the ODOT grant objectives and meeting the needs of the academy, students and constituents. About DPSST: The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers.
