Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Firearms Instructor (Public Safety Training Specialist 1) This recruitment is for one (1), regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies. What you will be doing: You will be working in DPSST’s Skills Training Section delivering pre-designed curriculum within the Firearms Training Program. This position will offer instruction to students in the following disciplines and programs: Basic Police Basic Corrections – Local Armed Parole & Probation Regional Training Program Successful applicants will demonstrate an ability to effectively coach and evaluate a student in the effective, legal, and legitimate use of firearms, while adequately maintaining a safe respectful training environment.
