About The Position

Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of a full athletic performance program for the Colorado Rapids Development Academy. This description is a summary only and is describing the general level of work being performed, it is not intended to be all-inclusive. Requirements

  • B.S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Athletic Training
  • First Aid/CPR certification required
  • Individual must demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and exhibit proper ethical behavior
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Must possess the ability to adapt to unpredictable circumstances and handle a highly demanding work environment
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in Sports Science, Exercise Science or equivalent is preferred.
  • A CSCS, NASM-PES, or equivalent certification is preferred
  • Previous experience with a collegiate or professional soccer team is highly recommended.
  • Knowledge of professional sports team operations, public relations, and/or sponsor relations is preferred.
  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards

Responsibilities

  • Provide a periodized program for each day, week, year (microcycles – macrocycles) both in the weight room and on the field
  • Gather data provided by GPS/Heart Rate Monitoring systems or other available modes and provide coaching staff with data points to guide periodization and session building
  • Serve as a resource to coaching staff regarding training variables and their impact on session output
  • Perform Daily Warm up/Cool down routines for both training and games
  • Perform Activation/Regeneration sessions as needed (at home and away)
  • Implement an Athlete Education Program including but not limited to recovery, nutrition, strength training, and injury prevention
  • Provide individualized Return To Play (RTP) Protocols that allows each athlete to progress safely back to full training
  • Create an individualized athlete profile consisting of data gathered from GPS/Heart Rate system, weight room activities, on field performance (games), and testing results (FMS, Lactate Testing, 1RMs, etc.)
  • Work with 1st Team Player Development Coach to monitor and manage training loads for High Potential Players participating across various teams.
  • Provide at home training programs for those not traveling, injured, or during cancelled session (due to weather)
  • Create and distribute required reports for US Soccer as required
  • Serve as a resource for Colorado Rapids Alliance Clubs
  • Publish articles on a monthly basis to assist with coach education
  • Travel as required
