About The Position

The Family Giving & Community Engagement Officer serves as the lead fundraiser dedicated to the development of individual and corporate matching funding resources for their K-12 school community. This individual implements the donor cycle in accordance and in compliance with the implementation of a predetermined Annual Campaign Strategic Plan. They are responsible to meet on-going fundraising benchmarks around family participation, total new gifts, total renewal gifts (new, at risk, lapsing, lapsed & lost) and financial goals associated with the most important campaign(s) at the academy - Community Investment and the Tax Credit Drive (AZ region specific). The Family Giving & Community Engagement Officer serves as the liaison between the parent community and the school, creating a space for the community to engage with the Academy in a meaningful way and in compliance with fundraising and gift acceptance policies. In direction from the Regional Family Giving/Annual Campaign Manager in close coordination with the Director of Family Giving & Annual Campaigns this position provides the following services:

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Employment or volunteerism experience in fundraising, sales, customer service, marketing, communications, or other like relative employment.
• Commitment to the philosophy and mission of Great Hearts
• Superior written and verbal communication skills; oriented towards detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
• Superior organization, communication, and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Is resourceful, a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members at their academy and regional office and donor constituents
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong and fearless Public Speaking and Cold Calling skills

Responsibilities

• Conducts fundraising in accordance with the Annual Strategic Plan deliverables and according to all Great Hearts Academies fundraising policies and procedures, and gift acceptance policies
• Required implementation of predetermined development strategies and successful completion of annual fundraising campaigns specific to their region and academy of service, prioritizing the Community Investment Campaign
• With partnership of the GH Foundation and regional major gift leadership, coordinates all academy-based major gift initiatives relative to Capital Campaigns, Designated Gifts, including the direct ask of major gifts and serves as the central liaison and leader to Headmasters and parent service organizations for all campus development/fundraising activities.
• Athletic sponsorships - coordinate with Athletic Director
• Consistently attends various constituent group gatherings or meetings, such as the Academy Advisory Boards, Parent Service Organizations and others as needed to inform, partner & engage the community around prioritization of Community Investment & policy implementation.
• Serves as a communications liaison for school newsletters as needed and is responsible for managing and posting social media content related to fundraising & development or references thereto.
• Required to attend weekly status meetings with assigned Regional Family Giving/Annual Campaign Manager, Regional & America network-wide Development team meetings, training sessions whether offered by Zoom or in person.
• Schedules work time to align with school activity and other events before-and-after school where in person engagement for annual campaigns or community engagement or other initiatives is required.
• Meets bi-weekly with their Headmaster to coordinate the strategic plan delivery with their community and integration to the parent community to build aligned goods and comply with board approved network-wide fundraising policies and procedures.
• Serve as key fundraising public representative for the academy, which includes the cultivating of relationships with faculty, parents, administration, donors, and volunteers in order to effectively advocate for the mission and build a strong reputation for Great Hearts.
• Is public speaker at all critical academy events to highlight the importance of and represent the Culture of Philanthropy at their Great Hearts Academy. This includes but is not limited to prospective family school tours, info night, coffee talks with the Headmaster, curriculum night, meet the teacher, athletic banquets, and other important like academy events.

• Builds trust and transparency through positive collaboration with all fundraising colleagues to achieve collective goals as one integrated team serving the mission of Great Hearts.
