About The Position

This is a full-time position for a board-eligible/board-certified Academic Surgeon in General and Acute Care Surgery. The Division offers a dynamic, high-volume clinical environment supported by the region’s longest-standing American College of Surgeons Verified Level I Trauma Center and the only ACS Verified Center for Emergency General Surgery, with approximately 2,800 trauma admissions and nearly 2,600 emergency general surgery patient encounters annually. Faculty benefit from a collegial, team-based practice model and opportunities for academic involvement through teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development. Requirements

MD/DO or equivalent.
Board eligible or board certified in General Surgery and either Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery.
Eligible for medical licensure in Missouri and Kansas.
Completion of fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery.

Responsibilities

Active clinical practice in the surgical treatment of diseases related to the services of this division.
Participate as a member of the Acute Care Surgery Service in the Department of Surgery.
Faculty appointment with the School of Medicine in the area of Surgery with an emphasis in Acute Care Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care.
Teach medical students and residents in the classroom, clinic, and operating room.
Participate in surgery related research, clinical trials, and clinical studies.
Publish and present data at the regional and national levels.
Serve on hospital, university, and departmental committees as assigned.
