About The Position

The office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) offers a variety of support services including tutoring, study hall, and academic coaching/advising to help assist the more than 400 UCF student-athletes reach their full academic potential. The staff of Academic Advisors, Learning Specialists, Learning Assistants, and Tutors work one on one with student athletes to provide them support in their transition from High School to college and throughout their careers at UCF. The Senior Academic Success Coach will provide academic advising to student-athletes on assigned teams to include scheduling of classes, major selection, and required exams for enrollment/graduation to ensure students are making satisfactory progress towards their degree. They will monitor academic progress for continuing eligibility and graduation, coordinate travel letters distribution, produce academic grade reports, monitor study hall hours, and oversee mentoring of at-risk student-athletes. The Senior Academic Success Coach will assist in the recruitment process, keep current with changes in NCAA and university policies, and will maintain daily communication with students and coaches on assigned teams in regards to academic development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with student-athletes at a Division I level institution.
  • Experience working with at-risk student-athletes in an academic support environment to including mentoring and advising.
  • Familiarity with coordinating a study hall or a computer lab is preferred.
  • Prefer candidate with experience working with international student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive academic advising for assigned student-athletes, including: Course scheduling, major selection, and degree progression planning.
  • Monitoring satisfactory academic progress toward eligibility, transfer, and graduation.
  • Track and report academic performance through grade reports and progress evaluations.
  • Oversee study hall participation and academic accountability requirements.
  • Mentor and provide targeted support to at‑risk student-athletes.
  • Maintain frequent communication with student-athletes regarding academic development and expectations.
  • Coordinate academic-related communications such as travel letters.
  • Serve as the primary academic liaison for assigned athletic teams.
  • Communicate regularly with coaching staff regarding student-athlete academic progress and concerns.
  • Assist with the student-athlete recruitment process from an academic advisory perspective.
  • Support eligibility certification efforts in collaboration with compliance and coaching staff.
  • Lead and manage the DAAP Program, including: Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training OPS Non‑student employees and interns.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and evaluating DAAP participants.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with campus departments to support talent pipelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DAAP-related communications with ASSA, Athletics, and university stakeholders.
  • Supervise graduate assistants assigned to athletic teams.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and professional development support to assigned staff.
  • Ensure consistent application of academic support standards and best practices.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to: NCAA, Conference, UCF, and UCFAA rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Participate in required rules compliance training and educational programs.
  • Ensure all academic advising and program activities align with compliance standards.
  • Attend all required ASSA, SSWB/SDES, UCFAA, and compliance meetings as assigned.
  • Assist with department-wide initiatives and special projects, including: study hall management, orientation programs, life skills programming, book distribution and collection.
  • Recognition ceremonies and awards nominations.
  • Support cross-campus collaboration as requested by ASSA leadership.
  • Utilize and maintain proficiency in: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), PeopleSoft, Workday, and Teamworks.
  • Manage academic data, reports, and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of ASSA.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in schedule, including evening and weekend hours as required.
  • Model professionalism, accountability, and leadership within the academic support unit.
