Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS) is seeking an Academic Secondary English Teacher for a one-year contract. Reporting to the Academic Principal, the Academic Secondary English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality instruction aligned with the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. This role plays a key part in supporting student academic success within NBS’s unique training environment, where rigorous academic study is balanced alongside professional ballet training. The successful candidate will foster a structured, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a genuine appreciation for literature. Working collaboratively with colleagues, the Academic Secondary English Teacher will contribute to curriculum development, student assessment, and the overall academic experience, while supporting the individual learning needs and well-being of each student. Contract Term: One-year (2026/2027 school year)

Requirements

  • University Undergraduate Degree
  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Member of the Ontario College of Teachers
  • 1-2 years of direct teaching experience in the classroom setting with demonstrated classroom management skills
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario curriculum, assessment practices, and effective instruction
  • Ability to engage, differentiate, and make learning accessible for all students
  • Confident classroom management and organizational skills
  • Clear communicator and collaborative team player
  • Adaptable, creative problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic, ballet-integrated environment
  • Proficient with educational technology and digital tools
  • Student-centred, inclusive approach with a focus on well-being and growth, creating a sense of belonging in the classroom
  • Successful candidates must supply Canada’s National Ballet School with a Police Reference Check in accordance with the School’s Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy
