About The Position

The main focus of this position is to decrease failures and reduce retention. It is the academic monitor’s responsibility to give struggling students enough support to be academically successful. The academic monitor will work with the administrators, counselors, and instructors to implement a pyramid of interventions devised to identify struggling students and support them in their improvement and success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of 50-100 at-risk 9th grade students for yourself and caseload of 10-12th grade students for the Teacher Academic Monitors
  • Meet with students to discuss their academics and use appropriate interventions to better student success
  • Follow up with progress checks and repeat interventions as necessary
  • Document all interventions, including student, parent and teacher contacts
  • Manage student caseload based on their academic success (add/remove/place on probation when appropriate)
  • Utilize and manage shared Caseload Google Spreadsheet
  • Meet with TAMs to discuss their student caseload at mid quarter and the end of each quarter and to support their work with interventions, etc as needed
