The University of Tampa Athletic Department is offering an exciting opportunity to work as a part-time academic mentor within the office of Athletic Academic Support and Student Services. Mentors must be able to commit to working the traditional academic school year (busiest times are August – May), dedicating 20-25 hours per week. The UT Athletic department provides comprehensive academic support for our student‐athletes, including tutoring and mentoring, as well as programming aimed toward student welfare and development. Individuals interested in this opportunity would have a pivotal role in the overall management of a student athlete’s career, support them in their daily academic and personal development, with the goal of retention and graduation. This position allows participants to gain exposure and hands-on experience which will prepare them for a full-time position in an academic and/or athletic administrative environment. The position requires an organized, personable, flexible, and assertive person, who possesses ideal communication and time management skills. Individuals will be expected to aid in keeping students on task, developing organizational and time management skills, and assisting with writing skills, note‐taking, and study skill development. Additionally, this individual may assist the Assistant AD with special projects including maintaining office data, developing reports, and producing mass content aimed at student-athlete population through software platforms such as Workday, Navigate, Vector, and Teamworks.
