About The Position

The University of Virginia Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking tenure-eligible PhD neuroscientists with expertise in Cerebrovascular diseases and Brain Injury, such as stroke, aneurysm and vascular malformations, intracerebral hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury in animals and/or humans, to fill multiple Academic Investigator positions.

Requirements

  • MD and/or PhD in neurosciences or related fields
  • Track record for conducting basic and/or translational research with successful or promising submissions to NIH and other sponsors
  • Proven history of publication in peer-reviewed neurological journals

Responsibilities

  • Engage in research projects
  • Apply for internal and external grants to support this research
  • Publish results
  • Support resident education and research
  • Participate in resident and medical student teaching sessions
  • Participate in regional and national presentations
