The Academic Intervention Teacher is dedicated to supporting students with the highest academic needs across all grades and subjects. This position focuses on improving student outcomes by providing targeted interventions to ensure academic readiness and success in core content areas. The teacher will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, school staff, and families to develop individualized learning strategies that enhance student performance and support overall school improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Teaching certification and/or experience in K-12 education, with a focus on intervention or special education.
  • Demonstrated success in working with high-need students and improving academic outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and its application in intervention planning.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of diverse learners.
  • Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces.
  • Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families.
  • May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students.
  • Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication.
  • Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive, small-group, and one-on-one interventions for students identified as having critical academic needs.
  • Focus on core subject areas to improve reading, writing, math, science, and other content-specific skills.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies to address individual learning gaps and promote academic success.
  • Support students in understanding key concepts, improving study skills, and developing self-confidence in their learning.
  • Assess students’ academic strengths and areas for growth using formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Develop individualized learning plans that outline specific goals, progress monitoring, and measurable outcomes.
  • Regularly track and report student progress to inform instructional decisions and adapt interventions as needed.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to align interventions with grade-level curriculum and instructional goals.
  • Engage with special education staff, counselors, and administrators to provide comprehensive support for students.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication with families regarding student progress, strategies for improvement, and ways to support learning at home.
  • Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including differentiated instruction, hands-on activities, and digital tools, to maximize student engagement and learning.
  • Incorporate strategies to support students' language development, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Use data from assessments, teacher observations, and student work to refine and adjust intervention strategies.
  • Analyze individual and group data to identify trends and inform school-wide improvement strategies.
  • Participate in data team meetings to discuss student progress and contribute to school-level intervention planning.
