About The Position

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking an Academic Hematopathologist to join their Department of Pathology. OHSU is a prominent research university and the only public academic health center in Oregon, serving as a major regional referral center with a varied caseload. The lab processes over 3500 bone marrow specimens and approximately 4500 flow samples annually requiring hematopathologist interpretation. The Department of Pathology is known for its collegial faculty, AP/CP residency program, and eight post-graduate fellowship programs. OHSU also offers numerous collaborative research opportunities and is home to the Knight Cancer Institute, a leading center for cancer research and treatment. This position reports to the Department Chair and Vice Chair of Clinical Pathology and will contribute to the university's missions in teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.

Requirements

  • Board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Hematopathology.
  • Interest in providing the highest quality medical care and medical education.
  • Actively participating in clinical scholar-type research resulting in publication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in molecular hematopathology is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Sign-out of adult and pediatric bone marrow and lymph node cases, including those with ancillary flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and molecular testing.
  • Interpret hematopathology targeted next-generation sequencing.
  • Share evening and weekend hematopathology call responsibilities.
  • Participate in the instructional program for medical and graduate students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in committees and councils of OHSU.
  • Engage in outreach and public service programs and professional societies.
  • Participate in clinical and basic research programs at OHSU.
  • Work towards funding research studies through grants and contracts.
