About The Position

The Occupational Therapy Department at Pacific Oaks College is launching its Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. This role is crucial for developing and implementing the new doctoral-level curriculum, supporting program design and accreditation, and ensuring a high-quality, student-centered educational experience. The position involves teaching 12 credits annually, with a focus on fieldwork and areas of professional expertise. The role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring regular on-site presence for labs, fieldwork, accreditation, and administrative events.

Requirements

Doctoral degree (e.g., OTD, DrOT, EdD, PhD) from a USDE-accredited institution and an entry-level degree from an accredited OT program.
Initial NBCOT certification and a valid California Occupational Therapist license by start date.
Minimum of two (2) years post-licensure clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
Experience as a fieldwork educator or documented training in the role.
Active membership in relevant state and national professional organizations (e.g., OTAC, AOTA).

Nice To Haves

AOTA Fieldwork Educator Certificate.
Experience supervising both Level I and Level II OT students.
Proficiency in online adult learning strategies, course development, and data management systems.
Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards and self-study preparation.
A record of scholarly activity such as publications or professional presentations.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all Level I and Level II fieldwork education activities, ensuring compliance with ACOTE accreditation standards and alignment with the OTD curriculum.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with healthcare and community organizations, establishing and managing formal fieldwork affiliation agreements.
Coordinate high-quality fieldwork placements and experiential learning opportunities to support student success and professional development.
Teach fieldwork-related and specialty occupational therapy courses (12 semester credits annually) using innovative, student-centered approaches in both on-campus and online environments.
Advise and mentor OTD students on academic progress, professional conduct, fieldwork preparation, and doctoral capstone development.
Collaborate with the Program Director of OTD and faculty to support curriculum development, program learning outcome assessments, and accreditation activities.
Engage in scholarship and professional service through research, publication, involvement in professional associations (AOTA/OTAC), and participation in university-wide committees.
