The Engineering Scientist Associate – Academic Detailer will report to the Director of the Pharmacy Addictions Research & Medicine (PhARM) Program in the College of Pharmacy. The PhARM Program is an interdisciplinary research and implementation science team focused on improving access to evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD). The successful applicant will contribute their expertise and familiarity with the local resource environment to support a new medication access initiative. ADOPT-MOUD is a structured implementation project designed to improve access to buprenorphine for people with OUD through peer navigation, pharmacy technical assistance, and academic detailing initiatives. The Research Engineering/Scientist Associate III – Academic Detailer will support both patient-facing peer navigation services and pharmacy-facing academic detailing activities. This includes serving as a primary point of contact for patients who are unable to obtain their buprenorphine prescriptions in a community pharmacy, assisting them in navigating pharmacy-related barriers, coordinating resolution of dispensing issues with pharmacies and prescribers, and facilitating successful medication access. In addition, the position will conduct academic detailing visits to community pharmacies, provide evidence-based education and technical assistance related to OUD pharmacotherapy, and support implementation of best practices to improve medication access. The position will also support documentation of intervention activities, data collection for program evaluation, and preparation reports, presentations, and other dissemination products as needed.
