Requirements

  • Associate's degree and/or COD CTE certificate required.
  • Experience tutoring or providing academic assistance to college or high school level students required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken and written English required.

Nice To Haves

  • COD degree preferred.
  • Experience with online interactive technology (i.e. Zoom) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic assistance to students in specific subjects corresponding to COD curricula and serve as a resource to other academic assistants and peer tutors.
  • Face-to-face or online tutoring may occur one-on-one, in small or large groups, or a class.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Provide course-based academic assistance to students in courses where tutor has subject-matter proficiency.
  • Provide tutoring in person and online, one-on-one, and in group session formats.
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills, such as note taking, test preparation, test taking, time management, etc.
  • Serve as a resource to other academic assistants and peer tutors.
  • Conduct workshops, class visits, and Strategic Success sessions for students as requested by the supervisor.
  • Keep current on resources in order to compile or make recommendations for same.
  • Perform electronic and paper record-keeping tasks to include recording visit notes and timekeeping tasks.
