About The Position

Responsible to provide guidance to undergraduate students on their academic journey. To serve as an academic adviser to primarily first- and second-year undergraduate students, promoting student persistence, retention and timely progress to degree completion.

Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact with a diverse student body.
• Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
• Knowledge of computer software and programming including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of University rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
• Attend events as needed (evenings and weekends).
• Bachelor’s degree is required.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Prior academic advising experience in higher education is preferred.
• Bilingual is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one on one advising to students providing guidance on courses selection and degree requirements.
• Guide students on the advisement platform for academic planning, course selection and tracking their progress toward degree completion.
• Maintain student record in advisement system.
• Inform students about university policies, procedures and support services available to them.
• Participate in meeting with other units/departments.
• Assist with first year advisement/registration.
• Attend Admission Events to provide information on registration process.
• Assist with outreach to students who have receive "alerts"
• Perform other job-related duties.
