About The Position

This role includes assessing and monitoring student progress, proactively reaching out to those experiencing academic challenges, interacting with students on campus, including orientation and capstone weeks and developing individualized graduation plans aligned with degree requirements. The Academic Advisor will collaborate closely with faculty and other departments across the institution to support students throughout their academic journey. They will work with the Office of Academic Excellence to provide general guidance regarding bar examination preparation and eligibility, partner with Student Services to assist with commencement event logistics and coordinate the student registration process in partnership with the Registrar's Office. An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. Responsibilities

  • Student Advising Assess and monitor student progress and proactively reach out to struggling students
  • Collaborate with multiple departments across the school such as Academic Excellence, Career and Professional Development, Student Services and Culture and Inclusion to best support the students
  • Advise on the graduation requirements for both the Brick and Mortar and Blended programs and be able to accurately advise students on their graduation plans including certificate programs, pathways, requirements for probation and academic support requirements, and course frequency
  • Outreach to admitted/deposited students to answer any onboarding questions
  • Oversee the late policy and weekly extension requests from Blended students
  • Conduct individual academic advising sessions with students in-person or via zoom
  • Answer daily questions regarding program requirements, registration, and course planning
  • Be proficient with using an LMS and Student Information System to ensure that student interactions can be properly tracked
  • Help answer general questions about the Bar examination
  • Provide support for academic programming and administrative processes
  • Help lead the coordination of the on-campus preparation/ week 1 and capstone weeks Conducting one on one advising sessions
  • Assisting with the event logistics like conducting daily briefings, overseeing specialized programing, and ensuring that we provide superior hospitality.
  • In partnership with Student Services on commencement planning and logistics Participating in the commencement committee Assisting with the event logistics the day of the event
  • In partnership with the Registrar, coordinate the student registration process
