Reporting to the Director of the College Advising in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, the Academic Advisor will be responsible for providing traditional academic advising support for an assigned caseload of up to 550 undergraduate students. The Academic Advisor will assist students as they work to clarify educational and career goals, develop and implement plans to achieve those goals, make decisions that align with academic policy, and utilize campus resources/processes. In addition to traditional academic advising, this position will be responsible for a number of related duties. The advisor will participate in a small number of coordinated proactive advising programs aimed at aggressively supporting targeted cohorts of advisees (for example, students who have applied for graduation or students that did not enroll as expected). The advisor will engage in a variety of activities related to New Student Orientation through the year and especially in the month of June and, to a lesser degree, other college events. Finally, the advisor will be expected to engage (both proactively and as assigned) in service activities that facilitate the day-to-day operation of the center and/or contribute to the profession of academic advising. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
