About The Position

Paul College of Business and Economics is seeking a passionate individual to join their advising team. In this role, you will guide students from their first day at UNH through graduation, building meaningful relationships, helping them navigate academic decisions, connecting them with resources, and supporting them through opportunities and challenges. You will serve as an academic coach, advocate, and trusted partner in their success. Beyond advising, you will contribute to innovative student success initiatives, orientation and recruitment events, and have opportunities to take leadership roles in specific Paul College programs like Paul Scholars. This position is ideal for someone who is student-focused, collaborative, and excited about helping students achieve their goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, or related student service area.
  • Two years of experience in academic counseling, post-secondary career planning and placement, or related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising and support to assigned Paul College Students using a 4-year advising model from entry through successful graduation.
  • Support students as they explore opportunities as part of their academic career.
  • Guide students to option/major declaration in their sophomore year.
  • Explain academic policies, procedures, and curriculum to students to meet their educational goals.
  • Guide student course selection and scheduling.
  • Assess student needs and make referrals to university supports and resources.
  • Maintain appropriate student records and document student interactions while ensuring confidentiality of student records.
  • Identify and monitor student academic progress each semester to ensure successful completion of university and college academic requirements.
  • Contact students with early alerts indicating academic challenges.
  • Help students identify and resolve obstacles to academic success.
  • Serve as academic coach for students who have fallen below minimum academic expectations.
  • Meet with students placed on Academic Warning regarding their status and impact on educational plans.
  • Participate in ongoing advisor training, including internal workshops, meetings, webinars, readings, and external workshops.
  • Support program coordinators with the goal of taking on leadership roles in specific Paul College Undergraduate Programs Office programs (e.g., Rutman Fellows Program, External Transfer Student Program, Internal Transfer Support Program, AAA/Early Alert Program, Orientation Program, FIRE Program, Paul Pathways Program, Paul College Honors Program).
  • Participate in Paul College recruitment and orientation events.
