About The Position

The ASAP Advisor delivers advisement support services to assigned students on different aspects such as course selection, academic planning, and career exploration and development. The role monitors student progress tracks the use of support services, and provides proactive outreach to faculty, staff, and community partners to remove barriers and promote success. Advisors maintain accurate records, facilitate workshops, and conduct individual and group advising sessions, ensuring students are connected with resources and opportunities to achieve their goals. As the advisor for targeted populations, this person will be proactive in assisting community college students through an appreciative advising approach in addressing academic, personal and institutional challenges which adversely affect persistence, progression, and timely completion of degree. In alignment with the College’s mission, the Advisor fosters an inclusive, supportive environment that promotes persistence, retention, and completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student personnel/services, education, psychology, human resources or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time experience in academic advisement.
