About The Position

The Academic Advisor serves as a member of the first-year advising team, helping students to articulate their academic goals and develop meaningful educational plans. The Academic Advisor will advise approximately a caseload of 150 undergraduate students on a wide range of academic issues, facilitating individual and group sessions throughout the academic year. In addition, the Academic Advisor works with departmental advisors and other university offices to increase student retention. The Academic Advisor will also assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Student Personnel Development, Education or a related field.
  • 2+ years related experience in an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and customer-service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Psychology, Social Work or related area.
  • 2+ years Administrator in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with academic support programs.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Student Development theories.
  • Ability to work as an integral member of a team.
  • Experience working with databases.
