Under limited supervision, this role supports student success by providing guidance on academic planning, degree requirements, and university resources, while fostering student development and retention. The Academic Advisor II works with students to develop attainable educational and academic goals, provides input on related majors, minors, and future educational and career options. They offer comprehensive information about academic requirements, university policies, degree progress, and program options to help students make informed decisions. This position proactively monitors student progress, identifies potential obstacles to timely graduation, and develops strategies to support academic success. The advisor connects students with relevant campus resources, support services, and faculty, and provides input on probation, reinstatement, and dismissal. Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining student records, assisting with advising components of recruitment and orientation events, supervising student employees, training new Academic Advisor I staff, and presenting or participating in workshops on academic and study skills. The role requires attending training to stay current with academic policies and best practices in academic advising.
