About The Position

This internship is designed to provide real-world experience in an assistive technology training classroom. This position will play a crucial role in providing training and support to individuals with disabilities and older adults in learning essential job skills and using assistive technology to enhance their daily lives.

Requirements

  • Lived experience or Bachelor’s degree in Assistive Technology, Rehabilitation Science, or related field
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse disabilities
  • Proven knowledge of a wide range of assistive technologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with adaptive software and hardware
  • Proficiency in data management and documentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to assess technology needs and make recommendations for assistive technology solutions
  • Knowledge of various assistive technology products and how they can be used to enhance daily life
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in instructional design and training methodologies
  • Prior experience in public speaking or workshop facilitation

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for one-on-one and group training sessions on assistive technology.
  • Assist with developing and delivering customized training programs based on individual needs.
  • Review and provide suggestions on established assistive technology curriculum.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of various assistive technology products.
  • Assess potential candidates’ technology needs and make recommendations for assistive technology solutions.
  • Stay current with advancements in assistive technology and share knowledge with others.
  • Review student assignments and provide feedback.
  • Complete independent tasks, e.g., update standard operating procedures, or attend relevant webinars.
  • May include blog writing assignments, social media post write-ups, Personal Stories for Albr use.
  • Fulfill administrative tasks, including time tracking.
  • Prepare reflection reports for submission to Division of Services for the Blind counselors.
