About The Position

The AB on the Guam will memorize and carry out assignments on the Watch Quarter Station Bill; know location of all safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire and bilge pumps, fire hoses, lifejacket lockers, emergency lighting, first aid supplies and rescue equipment; and know proper lifejacket donning methods. Requirements

  • STCW 95 Certificate
  • AB Unlimited Endorsement
  • A valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Have and maintain a valid U.S. Passport
  • One-year experience on seagoing
  • High Speed passenger vessel experience
  • Maintain compliance with USCG physical standards

Nice To Haves

  • Third Mate preferred but not required
  • Secret Clearance preferred but not required
  • MSC training preferred
  • Water Jet Experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Memorize and carry out assignments on the Watch Quarter Station Bill.
  • Know location of all safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire and bilge pumps, fire hoses, life jacket lockers, emergency lighting, first aid supplies and rescue equipment.
  • Know proper life jacket donning methods.
  • Participate in the operation of the vessel within the legal requirements of the USCG and other pertinent regulatory agencies under the supervision of the Mate.
  • Monitor safety issues and report hazards to the Mate for correction.
  • Participate in Safety, Seamanship and other training as required.
  • Participate in drills as directed by the Mate.
  • Participate in meetings as requested.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is provided and properly used for all tasks involving physical hazards.
  • Assist, under the direction of the Mate, with the safe mooring, docking of the vessel in a variety of weather and water stage conditions.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, painting and clean up as instructed by the Mate.
  • Stay aware of guest service and safety issues and provide regular and dependable feedback to the Master by way of the Mate.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing and demonstrate well-developed inter-personal skills, to include maintaining quality working relationships with other employees and the public during the course of work.
  • Complete work assignments as directed by the Chief Mate.
  • Demonstrate initiative and an ability to set and achieve high standards of performance.
  • Be able to pursue and complete multiple assignments under time constraints and in an environment subject to many distractions.
  • Possess and demonstrate superior judgment, analytical ability, performance under pressure and other skills necessary during routine operation or emergence response aboard a high capacity motor vessel.
  • Understudy the Third Mate.
