About The Position

Provides routine and preventative cleaning services in common areas, including all building entrances at Senate Office Buildings. All cleaning is conducted in accordance with GGW departmental policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation policies. The role requires maintaining a positive customer focus and behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations. This is a full-time overnight position. The custodian may also back up restroom cleaners as needed.

Requirements

Ability to obtain security clearance.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to decipher and comprehend signs.
Three to six months of previous cleaning or related experience; an approved custodial training program may substitute for experience.

Nice To Haves

One year of previous custodial experience on a federal contract or commercial cleaning site.

Responsibilities

Clean and police common areas, including stairs and indoor and outdoor entrances, in accordance with GGW policies and procedures.
Dust common-area surfaces, including lights, ledges, walls, and vents.
Gather and empty trash containers in common areas, and wipe and sanitize containers as needed.
Identify the proper supplies and cleaning materials for each surface.
Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning.
Routinely police floors for trash and debris.
Follow GGW safety and sanitation policies and procedures, including proper cleaning techniques and cross-contamination prevention.
Communicate potential hazards, supply needs, broken equipment requiring repair, and policy violations.
Interact with and project a positive, courteous manner to the public.
Navigate complicated floor layouts and move from point to point in crowded settings.
Clean and maintain assigned equipment.
Back up restroom cleaners as needed.
