About The Position

Join a leading technology initiative as an ABAP Backend Developer in San Antonio, Texas. In this on-site, contract position, you will be responsible for developing complex, custom ABAP solutions within an S/4HANA environment. You will collaborate with technical and functional teams, leveraging your expertise to deliver high-impact solutions while working independently and proactively. This is a high-visibility opportunity to work on a long-term project with potential for contract extension through 2026.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with S/4HANA and Object-Oriented ABAP (OOABAP)
• Advanced proficiency in CDS views, OData, RAP Model, and AMDP
• Strong background in full lifecycle ABAP custom development (RFC, BADI, BAPI, enhancement frameworks)
• Ability to work independently and produce solutions from minimal guidance
• Excellent communication skills and proactive problem-solving ability

Nice To Haves

• Experience with UI5 project architecture
• Familiarity with new S/4HANA coding syntax and best practices

Responsibilities

• Independently design, develop, and deliver custom ABAP solutions within S/4HANA
• Analyze requirements and translate high-level functional design documents into technical solutions
• Utilize Object-Oriented ABAP, CDS views, RFC, BAPI, and BADI for robust custom development
• Extend, integrate, and enhance new solutions with existing custom applications
• Troubleshoot and resolve system defects identified during testing
• Follow established development standards and manage deployments via change management processes
• Deeply understand solution architecture and database structures
• Collaborate across technical and functional domains, demonstrating flexibility and initiative
