About The Position

Do you have Electrical Wiring Design experience, have you worked in aerospace engineering and would you like to progress and develop new skills? Then this job is for you! The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a EWIS component qualification engineer (f/m) to join our EWIS engineering department based in Mirabel (Québec, Canada), where you will work jointly with a multifunctional team including Chief Engineering, Program, Method, Manufacturing etc You will be part of the EWIS engineering team responsible for : Major development projects on the A220 Production and in-service support Manufacturing engineering The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively. We are seeking a detail-oriented EWIS System integrator to oversee the selection, testing, and certification of electrical interconnection components. You will ensure that all wires, cables, connectors, and protection devices meet stringent FAA/EASA Part 25 Subpart H requirements. Your mission is to guarantee system integrity, fire safety, and long-term reliability in the most demanding flight environments. Requirements

  • Master in Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of 8 years in aerospace electrical systems
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to understand how a component change in the wing impacts the certification of the entire EWIS system.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of EWIS regulations (e.g., FAR, EASA) and industry standards (e.g., SAE).
  • A "trust but verify" mindset when reviewing supplier data; the ability to spot inconsistencies in complex laboratory reports.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills for certification documentation and the ability to influence cross-functional design teams.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills
  • Are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define OEM Qualification Requirements for EWIS component and address changes when necessary
  • Maintain the Qualified Parts List (QPL) for A220 EWIS component
  • Develop and execute test plans in accordance with environmental testing regulations.
  • Coordinate specialized testing (eg flammability, fatigue, arcing, vibration etc) with laboratories and Tier1 / Tier2 suppliers
  • Review test data and Qualification Test Reports (QTR) including deviations from suppliers
  • Author the EWIS Compliance Matrix to demonstrate adherence to regulation
  • Support the Design Owners and TCCA DAD (Design Approuval Designee) for certification
  • Perform technical reviews of suppliers to mitigate the risk of non-conforming "standard" parts.
  • Evaluate new technologies against existing standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including systems, stress, core engineering, and manufacturing engineering—to resolve technical challenges
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier engineering teams and labs during the development / qualification of new "Standard" parts.
