This position examines, repairs, assembles, and tests aircraft accessories, such as engines, power brake units, auxiliary electric motors, carburetors, spark igniters, valves, pumps, fuselage, wings, and oil and fuel tanks. The technician uses hand tools and testing devices, following shop orders and manufacturer's specifications. The role involves performing routine inspections or special maintenance to prevent failures of aircraft mechanical systems and components, including complete operations checks on hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging, and controls. The technician determines when a component should be repaired or replaced, decides upon the necessary repair scheme, and secures the required parts. Repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, making alterations or changes when necessary, while adhering to approved maintenance procedures, OEM technical data, and work package instructions. The technician consults with the Maintenance Lead for technical assistance and inspects completed work before sign-off, performing rework as needed to ensure components meet prescribed standards. Serviceability tests are performed on repaired components using specified test equipment. Work package documentation is completed, and in-progress or completed work is submitted for review and inspection by the Maintenance Lead and Quality Assurance. Performance statistics and operational data are provided to the supervisor, and time and materials are properly accounted for.
