About The Position

Cotulla Education, which includes the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Centura College, Tidewater Tech, and American Lineman College, is committed to transforming lives through career-focused education in high-demand fields. The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking Aircraft Maintenance Instructors for its Norfolk campus to train students in its Part 147 program for FAA-certified mechanics. This role is ideal for individuals with aviation maintenance experience, whether from military or civilian backgrounds, who are looking for a stable, mission-oriented career. AIM provides a structured 5-day paid instructor training program to assist new instructors in transitioning to the classroom, and no prior teaching experience is required. The company emphasizes the valuable qualities that military aviation maintenance professionals bring to instruction, such as precision, discipline, and the ability to teach under pressure. Instructors will mentor students, prepare them for careers as Aviation Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), and work in a structured, mission-driven environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience
  • Background as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures
  • Interest in mentoring, coaching, and developing others
  • Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven training environment
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands-on environment
  • Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification
  • Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership
  • Help create a structured, engaging, and safety-focused learning environment
  • Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials
