This role is responsible for performing fitting operations with limited supervision using standard shipfitting equipment to accomplish fabrication and ship repair duties. The A Class Structural Fitter is technically proficient in tasks, work processes, and equipment operation, and is accountable for the completion of daily work assignments, including quality control. They are responsible for creating a working environment compliant with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations and policies, and for the safe rigging of plates and equipment. This position requires the ability to understand directions, follow instructions, and maintain cleanliness and organization on assigned job sites. The role also involves monitoring the working environment for compliance with regulations, monitoring steel preheat, inner pass temps, heat input, heat distortion, and heat shrinkage, and training lower-skilled workers. The position may require working any shift and performing additional tasks as needed, and requires compliance with the Company’s Equal Opportunity and Anti-Harassment Policy.
