About The Position

Installs, repairs and maintains building heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment, support equipment and utilities, including electrical and plumbing. Works under limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program.
  • One (1) year of work related experience (per Facilities hiring/promotion matrix).
  • Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record.
  • Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
  • Must pass a security clearance check.
  • Requires the ability to climb ladders and lift weights in excess of 50 lbs., assisted.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings and weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year work related experience can substitute for One (1) year of formal training or any combination of the two.
  • Position requires working with juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; should possess a high tolerance for working in an emotionally demanding/stressful work environment.
  • This position is required to work on a rotating on-call schedule.
  • In case of emergencies, the employee may be required to work after normal scheduled working hours and weekends/holidays.
  • Mandatory overtime may be required.
  • May be subject to changes in shift schedules and work locations.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the installation, operational maintenance and major repair work on commercial air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and ventilation equipment.
  • Receives and completes work orders concerning adjustments/repair of equipment.
  • Completes preventive maintenance inspections and minor adjustments to ensure equipment is in good operating condition.
  • Maintains and repairs various electrical machinery, pumps and electronic/automated controls.
  • Maintains and repairs low and high-pressure boilers and steam and hot water systems.
  • Procures materials/supplies and bids for service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
