The Egress Systems Technician III is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, modification, troubleshooting, and operational readiness of aircraft egress systems, environmental control systems (ECS), and related airframe/avionics components. This position performs installation, removal, replacement, adjustment, and functional testing of ejection seats, canopies, explosive devices, canopy drive and locking mechanisms, and associated linkage systems in accordance with Naval aviation maintenance procedures and technical publications. The specialist conducts scheduled and unscheduled aircraft inspections, interprets technical manuals and schematic diagrams, utilizes specialized test equipment and precision measuring devices, and documents maintenance actions within NALCOMIS. Working under established safety and quality standards, the role supports mission readiness by ensuring all assigned systems meet operational and regulatory requirements while contributing to continuous maintenance excellence and aircraft reliability.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- More than five (5) years previous experience as an Egress/ECS Systems Specialist. (CDI Experience).
- Must be capable of attaining Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) within required timeframe.
- Capable of operating support equipment.
- Working knowledge of the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series.
- Knowledge of Naval maintenance publications, maintenance requirement cards and the ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).
- Training to include NAMTRGD Navy AME “A” or factory equivalent ejection seat and environmental control system course of instruction.
Responsibilities
- Install, remove, replace, service, adjust and troubleshoot ejection seat, canopy, explosive devices, airframe/avionics related environment control systems, and functional components including rigging of explosive linkage devices, ejection seat, canopy, canopy drive and locking mechanisms using hand tools, power tools and applicable test equipment.
- Perform hourly, calendar, phase and conditional inspections as required by maintenance requirement cards.
- Ability to incorporate minor aircraft modifications to ejection seat, canopy and airframe/avionics environmental control systems.
- Use color coded charts of aircraft plumbing.
- Interpret schematic diagrams and applicable technical data.
- Use and care of power tools, test equipment and precision measuring devices in the maintenance and repair of aircraft.
- All other duties as assigned by the site supervisor.
